Art Nouveau History

The Art Nouveau movement swept through the decorative arts and architecture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The world of decorative arts was diversifying out of the Victorian era into the incredible. The new aesthetic from the East 'Japonisme' and the 'Arts and Crafts' movement which began in England quickly moved through Europe and to the USA. The combination of cultures and art became Art Nouveau.

Aimed at modernizing design, seeking to escape the eclectic historical styles that had previously been popular. Artists drew inspiration from both organic and geometric forms, evolving elegant designs that united flowing, natural forms with more angular contours. Bohemian Glass, sometimes referred to as Bohemian Crystal, is glass produced in the regions of Bohemia and Silesia. It has a centuries long history of being internationally recognized for its high quality, craftsmanship and beauty

The beautiful fine silver earrings in this collection were cast using an original mold from 1905. Extravagantly finished using Czechoslovakian crystal drops or touches of gold plating.
